Waiting for that day, and craving for an opportunity to battle-test the new hardware, German did kept up the...

21cm Mörser 18 Item 240 : 21cm Mörser 18
A new 210mm heavy mortar designed originated from the KRUPP concern design bureaus in Germany during the 1920s. According to the Reichwehr higher command requirements, the new artillery piece's firing range and trasvering capability while in firing position were to surpass any of the earlier 210mm mortars used during the WWI by the Kaiser's Army. The design work, as well as various tests and experiments were all conducted clandestinely, due to the political situation Germany was at that time. The new gun was labeled the 21cm Mörser 18 - the alleged 1918 model designation was to cover-up the illegal activities, culminating in a a modern weapon, utilizing many novel technical features.
